Economics Admissions Assessment (ECAA); 1x interview
Interview 1: problem-style questions
Timed practice admissions test papers
Feeling prepared might make you feel more relaxed
Remember this advice isn't official. There is no guarantee it will reflect your experience because university applications can change between years. Check the official Cambridge and Oxford websites for more accurate information on this year's application format and the required tests.
Also, someone else's experience may not reflect your own. Most interviews are more like conversations than tests and like, any conversation, they are quite interactive.
Test taken:
Number of interviews: 1
Length of interviews: 30 mins
Online interview: No
I was asked two problem-style questions. One more macro themed, the other more micro themed (although neither was related to A Level Economics content). We worked through each question together then some extension questions (more interpretive, less quantitative) were asked. There was no mention of why I chose Cambridge/ my personal statement.
I prepared for the admissions assessment by doing practice papers found on the university website. First I went through a paper untimed, working through each answer and then checking my solutions. Then I did some timed papers to give myself an idea of how the real test would feel.
I found that preparing for the interview did help me to feel more relaxed, although it didn't really help for the actual interview.
