Remember this advice isn't official. There is no guarantee it will reflect your experience because university applications can change between years. Check the official Cambridge and Oxford websites for more accurate information on this year's application format and the required tests.

Also, someone else's experience may not reflect your own. Most interviews are more like conversations than tests and like, any conversation, they are quite interactive.

Interview Format

Length of interviews: 20 minutes
Online interview: No

What happened in your interview? How did you feel?

Mostly maths and physics questions with a few minutes to talk about my personal statement. I had about 6 or 7 questions overall. All my questions were pre-made from a problem sheet, except the ones about stuff on my personal statement. They werent too difficult and the interviewers didn’t mind helping because they understand people are nervous and will make mistakes they normally wouldn't.

How did you prepare for your interviews?

Extended reading, practice papers and past interview problems.

If you took a test, how did you prepare?

Practice papers and further reading.

What advice would you give to future applicants?

Don’t rush to answer and make sure any books or reading you have put on your personal statement have actually been read and you know the contents. Don’t be afraid to ask for help with questions because they’d rather have someone with the confidence and the will to learn than someone too stubborn.
