Try to have fun!

Remember this advice isn't official. There is no guarantee it will reflect your experience because university applications can change between years. Check the official Cambridge and Oxford websites for more accurate information on this year's application format and the required tests.

Also, someone else's experience may not reflect your own. Most interviews are more like conversations than tests and like, any conversation, they are quite interactive.

What happened in your interview? How did you feel?

In the interview, I explained things written in my personal statement, going more in depth than what I wrote so it's a good idea to do some more extra reading. Then did some basic calculus questions and the interviewer kept pushing my understanding of the questions. Also did a physics question but there wasn’t enough time to complete it. I got questions wrong but basically it’s about how you think so...

How did you prepare?

For the test I practiced past papers and did some BMAT questions as well. Didn’t rely on calculators at all one month before my test and generally just kept revising the syllabus given and making sure my foundation and understanding was sound.

What advice do you have for future applicants?

Looking back, what advice would you give to your past self?

My advice would be to do group studies and try to expect the unexpected. It's a good idea to read more and try to get a basic understanding of the syllabus. But most importantly, try to have fun, relax, and remember they are looking for potential, not what you already know. For your personal statement, I would advise to write what you know, and what you want the admissions people to know (so long as it's the truth!).
