Remember this advice isn't official. There is no guarantee it will reflect your experience because university applications can change between years. Check the official Cambridge and Oxford websites for more accurate information on this year's application format and the required tests.

Also, someone else's experience may not reflect your own. Most interviews are more like conversations than tests and like, any conversation, they are quite interactive.

What happened in your interview? How did you feel?

We spoke mainly about my personal statement. I was asked questions about every area I wrote about in great detail. We also discussed the books I mentioned. After, there was time for me to ask questions and we then had another discussion about what I had asked about.

How did you prepare?

I prepared for the admissions assessment by completing Linguistics Olympiad past papers.

Looking back, what advice would you give to your past self?

Ask genuine questions surrounding your area of interest if you get the chance in your interview. Shows that you can learn in a supervision environment and that you are eager and willing to learn. The best thing I did was ask about the subject I had found difficult on the interview assessment. I also am very glad I didn’t embellish my personal statement because it would have been very very clear.
