Remember this advice isn't official. There is no guarantee it will reflect your experience because university applications can change between years. Check the official Cambridge and Oxford websites for more accurate information on this year's application format and the required tests.

Also, someone else's experience may not reflect your own. Most interviews are more like conversations than tests and like, any conversation, they are quite interactive.

Interview Format

3 interviews - the first one was with one interviewer and others with two. All related to my subject area (medicine) but the first also covered my personal statement. Each interview lasted 20-25 minutes I think. Between interviews, I waited in the JCR with helpful students at the college.

What happened in your interview? How did you feel?

Mainly relating to many different aspects of biology. Some A level content and some even higher. For stuff that I didn’t know about, I just made educated guesses.

How did you prepare?

Looking at the course and doing relevant extra reading helped a lot with topics I was unfamiliar with. School gave some tips. Current student helped with what to expect and tips to not stress too much.

Looking back, what advice would you give to your past self?

Make sure you know your A level content inside out and try to enjoy the interview. I even had a couple of laughs in mine!
