Remember this advice isn't official. There is no guarantee it will reflect your experience because university applications can change between years. Check the official Cambridge and Oxford websites for more accurate information on this year's application format and the required tests.

Also, someone else's experience may not reflect your own. Most interviews are more like conversations than tests and like, any conversation, they are quite interactive.

What happened in your interview? How did you feel?

Each interview started with an introductory question about why I liked my subject or about something in my personal statement they then asked me three questions - each was a broad question about a picture, chart or concept they introduced. After I voiced my initial thoughts they would ask me further questions on why I thought that or guiding me towards the correct answer

How did you prepare for your interviews?

The best thing I did was an informal mock interview with a couple of my father's friends - having someone you don't know well asking you very difficult questions (they don't have to be particularly related to your subject and the people asking equally don't need to know any answers) and expecting you to give concise and clearly thought out answers on a subject you aren't prepared to speak on is the best preparation I did

What advice would you give to future applicants?

In an interview what they are really interested is in how you think - not what you already know! Don't stress about not being as well read etc in your subject as peers as the interview is not a knowledge test. Don't be afraid to change your mind if you realise what you previously said is incorrect or your opinion is now different
