Advice in hindsight

Final thoughts

Remember this advice isn't official. There is no guarantee it will reflect your experience because university applications can change between years. Check the official Cambridge and Oxford websites for more accurate information on this year's application format and the required tests.

Also, someone else's experience may not reflect your own. Most interviews are more like conversations than tests and like, any conversation, they are quite interactive.

What happened in your interview? How did you feel?

I felt very relaxed. We started off with an opening question about why I chose economics. I was encouraged to give answers and explain why.

I was told that at the end some of my answers were wrong, but the tutors don’t care so much whether you get things wrong, they are just interested in your thought process!

How did you prepare?

I used textbooks that I found online. I had no school prep.

The best thing, I think, is just to know your stuff from A-level. I prepared loads of extra stuff and theories, but I was just asked A-level material (as they know that is a fairly level playing field).

What advice do you have for future applicants?

Looking back, what advice would you give to your past self?
