Advice in hindsight

-

Final thoughts

Read economics books; followed UK and world news; had mock interviews with teacher.

Remember this advice isn't official. There is no guarantee it will reflect your experience because university applications can change between years. Check the official Cambridge and Oxford websites for more accurate information on this year's application format and the required tests.

Also, someone else's experience may not reflect your own. Most interviews are more like conversations than tests and like, any conversation, they are quite interactive.

Interview Format

Test taken: TSA

Number of interviews: 2

Skype interview: No

Time between each interview: 24 hours

Length of interviews: 40 minutes each

What happened in your interview? How did you feel?

We began with a chat about things on my personal statement and then a general conversation. There were a couple of mathematical graph questions. It was all just a general discussion, apart from once, when I was shown a graph and given a piece of paper to draw another graph.

How did you prepare?

I did lots of practice papers, and practised taking 5 minutes to write an essay plan for essay questions from previous papers. My parents would then talk through my points and I would argue for them.

What advice do you have for future applicants?

Looking back, what advice would you give to your past self?

I read lots of economics books and I followed the UK and world news very carefully. I did two mock interviews with my teacher, which were very helpful.
