Final thoughts

Be confident!

Remember this advice isn't official. There is no guarantee it will reflect your experience because university applications can change between years. Check the official Cambridge and Oxford websites for more accurate information on this year's application format and the required tests.

Also, someone else's experience may not reflect your own. Most interviews are more like conversations than tests and like, any conversation, they are quite interactive.

Interview Format

Test taken: Geography Admissions Test (GAT)
Number of interviews: 2
Time between interviews: a day
Length of interviews: about 20 minutes
Online interview: No

What happened in your interview? How did you feel?

We talked about current geographical issues in the world. I was given several different maps and graphs etc, and asked to explain what I could see. I was also asked questions about how my extra curriculars could help me in uni.

How did you prepare for your interviews?

I went to an Oxford outreach interview workshop at a local sixth form.

If you took a test, how did you prepare?

I only looked at one past paper as it was a pilot for my year group

What advice would you give to future applicants?

Never ever doubt what you can do because the minute you doubt yourself, you won’t perform as well. You’re just as good as everyone else.
