Advice in hindsight

-

Final thoughts

Relax and think aloud.

Remember this advice isn't official. There is no guarantee it will reflect your experience because university applications can change between years. Check the official Cambridge and Oxford websites for more accurate information on this year's application format and the required tests.

Also, someone else's experience may not reflect your own. Most interviews are more like conversations than tests and like, any conversation, they are quite interactive.

Interview Format

Test taken: LNAT

Number of interviews: 2

Skype interview: No

Interview spread: same day - 1 morning, 1 early evening

Length of interviews: 45 minutes each

What happened in your interview? How did you feel?

We discussed a passage of text that I was given (in interview one, before; and in interview 2, during) and the atmosphere was very relaxed.

In the first interview this was legislation that we applied to different scenarios in the interview.

In the second interview, I was given some Roman law and we discussed it.

It was really just a casual chat about the subject.

How did you prepare?

I did the practice papers from the LNAT website.

What advice do you have for future applicants?

Looking back, what advice would you give to your past self?

Relax, nobody expects you to know anything or get the answers right in a Law interview. It’s all about understanding how you work through problems and whether you suit the Oxford teaching style.

Just be friendly and talk the tutor through your thought process, letting them know if you’re stuck.
