Advice in hindsight

-

Remember this advice isn't official. There is no guarantee it will reflect your experience because university applications can change between years. Check the official Cambridge and Oxford websites for more accurate information on this year's application format and the required tests.

Also, someone else's experience may not reflect your own. Most interviews are more like conversations than tests and like, any conversation, they are quite interactive.

What happened in your interview? How did you feel?

We spoke about pre-prepared text (for Modern Languages you are given a poem and asked to analyse it just before the interview). We then went into tangential questions, opening up the discussion, and ended on discussing books I mentioned in my personal statement and a few questions in the target language.

How did you prepare?

Practice papers!! Do lots and lots and lots!! Also follow a grammar book!

Look at first year reading lists for ideas for personal statement books!

Listen to your teachers but take their advice with more than a pinch of salt.
