Final thoughts

Think aloud!

Remember this advice isn't official. There is no guarantee it will reflect your experience because university applications can change between years. Check the official Cambridge and Oxford websites for more accurate information on this year's application format and the required tests.

Also, someone else's experience may not reflect your own. Most interviews are more like conversations than tests and like, any conversation, they are quite interactive.

What happened in your interview? How did you feel?

The interviews consisted of a discussion of personal statement reading, grammar and oral exercises, and a discussion of an unseen poem. I was nervous in the first one, but relaxed in the other 3.

How did you prepare?

To prepare for the test, I brushed up on grammar.

To prepare for the interview, I did some more grammar prep and brushed up on my personal statement reading. I practised with my mum (no Oxbridge background). You should know personal statement inside out!

What advice do you have for future applicants?

Looking back, what advice would you give to your past self?

The tutors were friendly and kept it relevant. Best advice: think out loud.
