Read about areas of interest; try to be friendly and keen; enjoy the interview!

Remember this advice isn't official. There is no guarantee it will reflect your experience because university applications can change between years. Check the official Cambridge and Oxford websites for more accurate information on this year's application format and the required tests.

Also, someone else's experience may not reflect your own. Most interviews are more like conversations than tests and like, any conversation, they are quite interactive.

What happened in your interview? How did you feel?

I was asked some questions relating to my personal statement - particularly on books I mentioned I'd read. Then there was a short exercise where I had to discuss unseen content. The tutors were very friendly and welcoming, and I left the interview feeling that I'd enjoyed the experience.

Looking back, what advice would you give to your past self?

I did lots of reading about areas I was interested in before the interview. I think that's the best preparation you can do as it shows you're passionate about your subject.

Having now built a relationship with my tutors who interviewed me, I would say it's really important to be friendly and keen, because they'll only want to select people they get on with. Be open to new ideas, try not to be too intimidated, and do your best. Try to enjoy it!
